A social media feud has broken out in Benue following the killing of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) Chairman, Alhaji Ardo Risku Muhammad. Activist Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya has taken to social media to accuse popular commentator Verydarkblackman of bias in his handling of the incident.
In a detailed post, Zege’Orkwande questioned why Benue people continue to follow Verydarkblackman, accusing him of always taking positions without listening to the other side of the story. He cited previous cases involving Iwanjer, Governor Alia, and an arrest in Otukpo as examples of alleged one-sided commentary.
The activist further criticised Verydarkblackman for allegedly lacking proper research before making public statements and highlighted his claim of personally alerting the police that led to the arrest of 10 suspects.
Verydarkblackman had earlier posted that he was contacted by one of the late chairman’s sons after the ambush at Okudu in Otukpo LGA on June 26, 2026. He stated that he quickly reached out to the police to prevent potential reprisal attacks and shared the information publicly to draw attention from Nigerian leaders and Benue State authorities.
The exchange underscores the deep ethnic and security sensitivities surrounding farmer-herder issues in Benue State, with both sides calling for fairness and thorough investigation into the killing.
