The Nasarawa State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS) has intensified its crackdown on illegal roadblocks with the dismantling of unauthorized checkpoints in Kadarko along the Makurdi Road.
Earlier today, a high-powered delegation of the NSIRS Roadblock Surveillance Committee, led by Permanent Member II, Mr. Canaan Coustine Wando, conducted an unscheduled visit to the area to enforce the ban on roadblocks across major highways in the state.
The team, which included the Permanent Member III, Secretary to the Board, and Directors of Assessment, Collection and Compliance, and Enforcement, uncovered and dismantled several illegal roadblocks during the operation.
The Committee issued a stern warning against the establishment of unauthorized checkpoints and directed consultants to strictly adhere to government directives by carrying out collections only at designated points of loading and offloading.
NSIRS reiterated its commitment to sustaining surveillance efforts aimed at promoting the free movement of goods and creating a conducive business environment across the state.
The operation underscores the Service’s determination to eliminate illegal extortions and improve the ease of doing business in Nasarawa State.
