Deputy Speaker Hon. Lami Danladi Ogenyiyi Donates Solar Street Lights to Government College Utonkon

The Government College Utonkon community in Benue State has expressed deep appreciation to the Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chief (Mrs) Lami Danladi Ogenyiyi, popularly known as Onya Ole K’Idoma, for donating solar street lights to the institution.

The donation, formally presented through a delegation led by Hon. Andrew Odumu, KSM, is expected to greatly improve security and create a better learning environment for students, particularly those studying in the evening. The school community described the gesture as timely and impactful, noting that it will enhance safety on the premises and in the surrounding Ufia host community.

Principal Comrade Ebi George B. commended the initiative, stating that the solar lights will promote academic excellence and address long-standing challenges faced by learners. The Executive Secretary of the Teaching Service Board, Rt. Hon. Bem Jacob Tseen, PhD, CNA, described the donation as “a practical investment in the safety and academic growth of our learners,” and urged other public-spirited individuals to emulate the gesture.

The college community also extended gratitude to Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia for the ongoing construction of the Technical College in Utonkon, which is expected to expand technical and vocational training opportunities across the state.
