Chief Godwin Obla, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has urged the Idoma people to demonstrate fairness and consistency in their demands for equity while advocating for a new generation of political leaders.
Speaking at the Idoma Centenary Plus lecture, Chief Obla stated: “If we [Idoma] demand equity from the Tiv, we must also offer equity to the Igede and the other subgroups within our zone. We must practice what we preach.”
In a strong push for generational change, Obla declared that it is time to move away from recycling old politicians. He called on the established Idoma political class to identify, support, mentor, and prepare younger, capable candidates for the State House of Assembly and the National Assembly.
“We must stop recycling the same political elite and begin investing deliberately in a new generation of leaders capable of driving progress and representing our people effectively,” he emphasized.
The remarks, which have generated significant engagement on social media, highlight ongoing conversations around fairness, inclusion, and leadership renewal within the Idoma nation and Benue State politics at large.
