Hon. Simon Unongo Steps Down for Jacob Tarkende in Guma 1 APC Primaries

Hon. Simon Unongo, a frontline aspirant for the Guma 1 State Constituency in the 2027 elections, has stepped down for Hon. Jacob Tarkende ahead of today’s All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

In a statement released by his camp, Unongo, a former Caretaker Committee Chairman and respected political figure in the area, urged his supporters to remain calm and throw their weight behind Hon. Jacob Tarkende for the sake of unity, fair play, and the overall interest of Guma 1 State Constituency.

He emphasized that his decision was not motivated by any material gain but by the need to foster harmony within the party and advance the collective political goals of the constituency.

Unongo expressed gratitude to Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Guma Local Government lead point-man, party stakeholders, and all those invested in the progress of Guma politics for their support and understanding.

The move is expected to strengthen cohesion within the APC in Guma 1 as the party proceeds with its primaries to select a candidate for the State House of Assembly.
