In a significant move to bolster local governance, Hon. (Amb) James Melvin Ejeh, the Deputy ALGON Chairman in Benue State and Chairman of Agatu Local Government Council, has participated in a high-profile national retreat and interactive workshop. The event, currently underway at the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, National Assembly Complex, Three Arms Zone, Abuja, aims to enhance legislative capacity and address key governance issues.
Hon. Ejeh was seen alongside his superior, Benue ALGON Chairman Hon. Vitalis T. Neji, as part of a two-in-one program organized by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in collaboration with the House of Representatives Committee on Delegated Legislation and Bagama & A. Networks Ltd. The workshop focuses on strengthening the legislative capabilities of local government councils across Nigeria’s 774 local councils and reviewing the vertical revenue allocation formula with input from stakeholders.
This initiative underscores ALGON’s commitment to fostering effective governance at the grassroots level. The program includes interactive sessions designed to equip council leaders with the tools needed to navigate legislative challenges and improve resource allocation, ensuring sustainable development across the nation.
The event has drawn attention from governance experts and policymakers, with expectations high for actionable outcomes that will benefit local communities. Credit for the coverage goes to Orseer Fabian Mnzughulga.
