The Catholic Diocese of Makurdi has announced that it will conduct an entrance examination for young men seeking admission into the Major Seminary. The examination is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 16th May, 2026, at Holy Child Secondary School along Mobile Barracks Road, Adeke, Makurdi, Benue State, beginning at 10:00am.
This announcement was made by Father Innocent IBM, the Assistant Vocations Director, in a circular addressed to all priests, religious, and lay faithful of the diocese dated Monday, 20th April, 2026.
According to the statement, interested candidates must meet several requirements. Applicants must be of good health and psychologically balanced. They must also be communicants who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation and remain in good standing with the Church. Only fresh candidates who have not previously attended any seminary or religious congregation are eligible to apply.
Academically, candidates are required to possess an O’Level certificate from WAEC or NECO with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics. Applicants are also expected to bring two passport photographs, writing materials, and an entrance examination fee of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000) only.
Father Innocent concluded with a word of encouragement, reminding prospective candidates that “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” He urged them to pray and prepare adequately, wishing them good luck.
