Dr. Mathias Byuan, Executive Director of Housing, Finance and Accounts at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in Abuja, has resigned his position to pursue his ambition of contesting the Benue State governorship election in 2027.
Byuan served in a strategic capacity at the FHA, overseeing financial operations and housing development initiatives at the federal level. His resignation marks a transition from public service administration to active partisan politics.
The former FHA executive is expected to join the growing list of aspirants positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections in Benue State. Although details of his political platform and party affiliation are yet to be formally announced, political observers say his entry could reshape early alignments in the state’s political landscape.
His decision aligns with a common trend among public office holders who step down from federal appointments to pursue elective positions, particularly at the state level. Sources close to Byuan confirmed that his resignation was driven by “a clear commitment to serve the people of Benue State at a higher level.”
The 2027 Benue governorship race is gradually gaining momentum, with more aspirants expected to declare their intentions in the coming months.
