The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful in Benue State and across Nigeria on the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr.
In a press statement released on March 20, 2026, the Speaker congratulated the Muslim Ummah on successfully completing the holy month of Ramadan, commending their remarkable devotion, discipline, self-control, and spiritual commitment throughout the fasting period.
Rt. Hon. Emberga described Eid-el-Fitr as a profound moment of gratitude, deep reflection, and renewal of faith. He urged adherents to carry forward the core virtues cultivated during Ramadan patience, humility, sacrifice, and generosity into everyday life.
“Eid-el-Fitr offers us a profound opportunity to reflect on the values of compassion, self-discipline, and devotion to God,” he stated. “I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to continue to uphold these virtues and extend love and generosity to those in need.”
The Speaker highlighted the importance of Zakat and other charitable acts, noting that caring for the less privileged remains central to the teachings of Islam and is essential for building a just, compassionate, and equitable society.
Rt. Hon. Emberga further called on Muslims to dedicate the occasion to praying for lasting peace, unity, and progress in Benue State and Nigeria at large. He stressed that collective prosperity can only be achieved through mutual understanding, tolerance, and harmonious coexistence among people of different faiths and backgrounds.
“As we celebrate, let us also pray for our state and nation, and work together in unity to build a peaceful and prosperous society for all,” he added.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive leadership, the Speaker assured that his office will continue to champion policies and initiatives that promote unity, social justice, and the welfare of every citizen, irrespective of religious or ethnic identity.
