Three Seriously Injured in Road Accident Involving Chemical-Laden Vehicle at Keffi Bye-Pass, Akwanga

Three persons sustained serious injuries on Sunday when a Sharon vehicle transporting barium sulphate lost control and crashed along the busy Keffi Bye-Pass at Power House Junction in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, carrying the chemical substance from Abuja to Lafia, suddenly veered off course and crashed near the junction a notorious traffic bottleneck in the town. The impact left the driver and two other occupants with severe injuries.

Local residents and passersby quickly rushed to the scene to assist the victims before emergency responders arrived. One eyewitness recounted: “The vehicle was coming from the Abuja side when it suddenly lost control and crashed. People nearby quickly gathered to help the injured before emergency responders arrived.”

The injured persons were subsequently evacuated to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Authorities worked to clear the accident scene and restore normal traffic flow along the route.

No official statement has been released yet regarding the exact cause of the crash, though preliminary accounts point to loss of control by the driver. The condition of the victims remains under close monitoring at the treatment centre.
