Governor Alia Approves New Board for Benue Television Corporation

Benue State Governor, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has approved the appointment of members to the Board of the Benue Television Corporation (BTC), with immediate effect.

The announcement was made in a press release issued on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The newly constituted board is expected to drive improvements in broadcasting quality, promote the state’s cultural heritage, and enhance the overall performance of the state-owned television station.

The appointed board members are:

1. Rev. Dr. Patrick Alumunkun, OON – Chairman (Ushongo LGA)
A seasoned media expert with a Doctorate Degree in Mass Communications. He brings extensive experience, including 12 years with Vatican Radio and 21 years as Director of Communications for the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja. He currently serves as Executive Director of Catholic Television of Nigeria.

2. Dr. Thaddeus Hanmakyugh – Secretary (Kwande LGA)
Holds a Doctorate in Film Production/Media Arts from the University of Abuja. He served and retired from the National Film Institute, Jos.

3. Mrs. Jennifer Ejembi – Member (Otukpo LGA)
Former Executive Director, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ibadan.

4. Dr. Barnabas Gbam – Member (Logo LGA)
Former Rector of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) College, Jos.

5. Engr. Sunday Iji – Member (Oju LGA)
Former Director of Engineering Services, Radio Benue, Makurdi.

Governor Alia charged the board members to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new roles, with a clear mandate to elevate broadcasting standards in Benue State and effectively showcase the rich cultural heritage of the people. He wished them success in delivering on these responsibilities.

The appointments take immediate effect and form part of the state government’s broader efforts to reposition and strengthen key institutions for greater service delivery and public impact.
