A 57-year-old man, Mr. Tamenbee, has been arrested by the Benue State Police Command, E Division, for allegedly scamming residents by impersonating a top Immigration officer and offering fake job appointments.
The arrest followed a complaint on June 2, 2026, from Tyavmem T Moses of Naka, who reported losing ₦283,000 to the suspect in exchange for a nonexistent immigration job slot.
According to reports, Mr. Tamenbee, a native of Naka but based in Apir, was tracked down after he and his wife, Mrs. Mbazan Linda Tamenbee, allegedly used her bank account to collect money from victims. He has since confessed to the crime and is currently in police custody.
The suspect is said to have defrauded several innocent people across Benue State through online schemes promising fake government job opportunities.
Members of the public who may have fallen victim to the scam are advised to contact the E Division or reach out to the person who reported the matter for necessary action.
