Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested three suspected terrorists during a raid in Agasha, Benue State, as part of intensified operations ahead of the rainy season.

The operation, described as a pre-wet season offensive, was based on credible intelligence regarding suspected criminal activity in the area. The suspects were identified as Sule Ibrahim and Salmanu Risko, both from Nasarawa State, and Abdulkareem Haruna from Jos.

Items recovered during the raid include one AK-47 rifle, 27 rounds of ammunition, magazines, and charms.

A military source stated that the raid forms part of ongoing efforts to secure farming communities in the state. “Operations have been scaled up to ensure farmers can return to their lands safely,” the source noted.

The arrests come as security agencies intensify proactive measures to create a conducive environment for agricultural activities, particularly as the farming season approaches. The suspects are expected to be handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
