Sen. Udende Storms Abande, Donates Cash to Victims, Seeks End to Bloodshed

Senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial District, Emmanuel Memga Udende, has visited communities devastated by recent herdsmen attacks in Kwande Local Government Area, expressing deep concern over recurring violence and assuring residents of renewed efforts to restore peace.

The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, was represented during the visit by his Senior Legislative Aide, Tsumbum Terwase Michael. The delegation toured Abande, Anwase, and Agbatse communities, meeting grieving families and displaced persons.

On behalf of Sen. Udende, the aide conveyed heartfelt condolences, promised to escalate the communities’ concerns to relevant authorities, and highlighted the lawmaker’s ongoing worry about the persistent attacks in Kwande and across the senatorial district.

As an immediate intervention, cash support was donated to surviving victims to cushion the hardship caused by the attacks and assist with rebuilding efforts.

Clan Head of the affected communities, Chief Agbar Vershima, described the visit as timely and appreciated the senator’s gesture. He detailed the scale of destruction and appealed for sustained government action to guarantee safety and recovery.

APC Youth Leader Mbaikyôr Lorliam James drew attention to the severe challenges faced by displaced youths and families, while Vice President of Turan Development Association, Ahar Bichi, called for stronger security presence and rehabilitation support to prevent future incidents.

The visit reflects growing stakeholder concern over insecurity in parts of Benue State, with calls intensifying for decisive measures to end the bloodshed and restore lasting peace in the North-East senatorial district.
