The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev, has called on APC folk singers in Benue to harness their God-given talents to celebrate the remarkable achievements and contributions of Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). This charge was delivered during an engaging interface with a group of Benue APC singers who visited the minister at his residence in Makurdi.
Professor Utsev challenged the singers to continue looking up to the SGF, whom he described as a father figure with a deep interest in the growth of every member of the political family at various levels. He highlighted Akume’s significant impact on the Tiv nation, Benue State, and Nigeria as a whole, urging the artists to use their craft to reflect his legacy.
Drawing inspiration from traditional and folk songs, which he credits for their profound underlying meanings, the minister encouraged the singers to continue deploying their talents to project Senator Akume’s goodwill for the state and the nation. This sentiment was echoed by a group led by Bemdoo Kaki and Gabon Akuse, who visited to appreciate the minister’s efforts in Nigeria and Benue, particularly in supporting and empowering members to meet their family needs.
In response, the APC singers pledged their loyalty to Senator Akume, President Bola Tinubu, and Professor Utsev, vowing to massively canvas support for the APC to secure victory in the 2027 general elections. They also appealed for continued support to enhance their ability to attend to their family needs, reinforcing their commitment to the party’s cause.
This event underscores the growing synergy between political leadership and cultural expression in Benue, with folk singers playing a pivotal role in amplifying the administration’s achievements and fostering unity ahead of future elections.
