Hon. Atsenda Ishwa has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that he received ₦10 million from Senator George Akume, describing the claims as fiction and unworthy of serious consideration. Speaking through statements reported by BENUE Info-pedia, Ishwa said his political decisions have never been influenced by money and remain rooted in conviction and belief rather than material inducement.

Reacting to what he termed “laughable rumours,” Ishwa stressed that no politician, past or present, has ever induced his support with cash. He maintained that his political journey has consistently been guided by principles, adding that once he believes in a cause or a candidate, his loyalty is total and uncompromised. According to him, “my politics runs on belief, not bank alerts.”

Tracing his political history, Ishwa recalled supporting figures such as the late Prof. Ayua, Prof. Ugba, Dr. Tivlumun Nyitse, and Governor Hyacinth Alia, noting that none of them were the wealthiest contenders at the time. He added that even when former Governor Gabriel Suswam had the advantages of incumbency and resources, he still stood by Prof. Ugba, underscoring that his support has never followed “fat wallets.”

Ishwa reaffirmed his unwavering support for Governor Hyacinth Alia, stating that it is anchored on belief in the governor’s vision for Benue State rather than any form of material benefit. He insisted that those he has supported over the years are alive and can attest that his loyalty has never been transactional.

Addressing what he described as a “double loyalty drama,” Ishwa observed that while some government appointees openly associate with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation without controversy, he has been unfairly scrutinised. He insisted that double standards are not his style and urged members of the public to verify facts rather than rely on speculation.

As an elder statesman, Ishwa cautioned individuals in Gboko allegedly using his name to pursue personal benefits to desist, warning that such actions would not be tolerated. He further stated that his strength lies in grassroots mobilisation, not office politics or social media politics, adding that his political record in Gboko speaks for itself.

Concluding his response, Ishwa advised those he described as political opportunists to stop dragging his name into their dealings, stressing that desperation is not his strategy. He maintained that political contests should be decided democratically, declaring, “we will meet at the polls.”
