The Secretary in the Office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Orseer Mnzughulga, has described Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s vision for a “New Benue” as a comprehensive reform agenda that places people, core values, and strict accountability at the heart of governance.
Speaking as a guest on Benue Television’s current affairs programme, “Governor Alia’s Vision for a New Benue,” anchored by broadcast journalist Mr. Japheth Terver Kwaghghom, Mnzughulga explained that the vision goes far beyond political sloganeering. He described it as a deliberate and purposeful break from past governance practices, replacing them with a responsible, compassionate, and citizen-focused administration.
According to Mnzughulga, Governor Alia’s leadership philosophy is deeply rooted in strong ethical standards, discipline, and service—attributes shaped by his clerical background and consistently reflected in his commitment to moral governance and respect for human dignity.
The media aide highlighted the administration’s deliberate prioritisation of workers’ welfare, pointing to the regular and timely payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities as clear evidence of the government’s resolve to honour its obligations to civil servants and retirees. He noted that this renewed focus has helped restore public confidence in governance in a state where such commitments had previously been neglected.
On security, Mnzughulga stated that the Alia administration places the sanctity of human life above every other consideration. He disclosed that the government is actively engaging security agencies, traditional rulers, and the Federal Government in collaborative efforts to tackle insecurity and restore lasting peace across Benue communities.
He appealed to the people of Benue State to remain supportive and patient, stressing that the “New Benue” agenda is not designed for immediate applause but for sustainable transformation that will rebuild trust between government and the governed.
Mnzughulga described the vision as a steady and purposeful journey aimed at restoring hope, strengthening institutions, and ensuring that governance truly serves the interests of the people. He expressed appreciation to his principal, the Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, and the management of Benue Television for providing the platform to engage the public on the policy direction of the Alia administration.
The broadcast has continued to generate discussions among residents, many of whom expressed cautious optimism about the administration’s stated priorities on accountability, workers’ welfare, and security.
