Ex-Benue speaker breaks the silence after his resignation

On August 25, 2025, Rt Hon Hyacinth Aondona DaJoh, the former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, announced his resignation in a heartfelt farewell note posted online. The resignation, effective as of August 24, 2025, marks the end of his tenure as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly, a role he held with distinction.

In his note titled “I Have Moved On – A Note of Special Appreciation”, DaJoh reflected on his journey and extended his gratitude to those who supported him throughout his term. “It’s no longer news that I turned in a resignation letter as the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly yesterday being the 24th day of August, 2025. And I have moved on,” he wrote, signaling the closure of this chapter in his political career.

DaJoh expressed deep appreciation for his constituents in Gboko West, who first elected him as a member of the Benue Assembly. “I want to specially appreciate my constituents of Gboko West (Mbatyav) that first voted me as a member of the 10th Benue Assembly. I am eternally grateful to them,” he stated, acknowledging their pivotal role in his political ascent.

He also thanked his colleagues and aides for their unwavering support. “I appreciate my dear colleagues who voted me in as the first Speaker of the 10th Assembly and gave me the needed support to the very last day in office,” he noted. His appreciation extended to the governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for support from the beginning to the end of his speakership. “My heartfelt appreciation also goes to the governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia for his support from the beginning of my being the speaker to my exit.”

The former Speaker also recognized the efforts of his staff and aides. “May I say a big thank you to my aides who were always there in helping me run the office. You guys are great and wonderful. I appreciate the staff of the Assembly too. Your technical support is well appreciated,” he added, highlighting the teamwork that sustained his office.

On a personal note, DaJoh paid tribute to his family, particularly his wife, Kundumiyol DaJoh. “I specially appreciate my wife, Kundumiyol DaJoh, who gave me the desired love and support while in office. She is the best example of a supportive wife. I appreciate all my family members too,” he said, underscoring the personal sacrifices made during his tenure.

Above all, DaJoh attributed his success to a higher power. “Finally and above all, my thanks goes to the almighty God, the maker and giver of all things. I thank you God for the good health, wisdom and grace. May your name be praised both now and forever,” he wrote, concluding with a prayer for blessings. “May God in His infinite goodness, bless you dear family, friends (on-line too), well wishers, and people of goodwill for your outpour of love, camaraderie and support.”
