Benue State, widely celebrated as the “Food Basket of the Nation,” stands on the cusp of a major agricultural revolution, if the ambitious vision of Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun becomes reality. The gubernatorial aspirant has unveiled a comprehensive and bold plan aimed at repositioning the state as Nigeria’s undisputed agricultural powerhouse.
Dr. Kuraun’s blueprint focuses on strengthening key sectors including crop farming, livestock, fisheries, and agro-processing, with deliberate coverage across all 23 local government areas of the state. At the heart of his strategy is a decentralized agricultural model designed to empower communities at the grassroots level, ensuring no area is left behind.
Under the proposed plan, farmers will benefit from improved access to modern farming tools, high-quality seedlings, affordable fertilizers, and customized training programs. These interventions are intended to significantly increase productivity, enhance yields, and discourage rural-urban migration by making agriculture more attractive and profitable at the community level.

If elected, the aspirant intends to transform every local government area into a productive agricultural hub, positioning Benue as a national model of excellence in farming and agro-allied industries. His vision promises not only to reinforce Benue’s historical role as the nation’s food basket but to elevate it to new heights of productivity, innovation, and economic prosperity.
