BIPC to Partner MOAUM on N30 Million Student Loan Scheme

The Group Managing Director of the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, has revealed plans by the company to collaborate with the management of Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), to introduce a ₦30 million revolving loan scheme aimed at supporting students of the institution.

Dr. Asemakaha made this known on Tuesday while addressing students during the Students’ Turning Point Programme tagged “Fueling Benue’s Future,” held at MOAUM. The initiative was organised by BIPC in collaboration with the Benue State Government as part of efforts to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development among students in tertiary institutions across the state.

According to him, the proposed loan scheme will provide financial support to students at a highly subsidised interest rate, enabling them to develop innovative ideas and productive ventures.

“The revolving loan will attract only two percent interest per annum, and it is designed to support students who have innovative ideas or require financial assistance to develop productive ventures,” Asemakaha explained.

Beyond the loan initiative, the BIPC boss also disclosed plans by the company to construct a hostel facility for students of the university once the institution’s management provides suitable land for the project.

Students who participated in the programme described the initiative as timely, noting that the engagement with professionals and industry leaders exposed them to practical insights on productivity, economic participation, and entrepreneurship.

Organisers said the programme, which attracted hundreds of students, is expected to be extended to other tertiary institutions across Benue State in the coming weeks as part of efforts to empower young people and stimulate innovation within the academic community.
