Benue Students Shine at 2025 Values for Daily Living (VDL) International Conference

Benue State has once again taken the spotlight at the 2025 Values for Daily Living (VDL) International Conference, with students from the state earning national recognition for their outstanding contributions. The event, held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Base Landmark Event Centre in Enugu, brought together government agencies, educational institutions, civil society groups, and youth leaders under the theme “Take It Back – In Pursuit of Excellence.”

Tortiv Aondoyima Timothy, a 200-level Law student at Benue State University, Makurdi, emerged as the 1st Runner-Up in the Tertiary Category of the national essay competition, showcasing a brilliant and value-driven essay. Representing Benue State alongside Timothy were Idoko Beverlv Abenu, a 300-level Law student at Benue State University, Makurdi, and Akpem Comfort Msuurshima of Jewel Model Schools, Makurdi, the 2024 VDL Essay Competition Winner (Secondary Category) and VDL Ambassador for Benue State.

The trio’s remarkable performance earned them a place among the Top 20 Finalists, who were formally decorated as VDL Ambassadors for 2025. They will champion values advocacy campaigns across their states and institutions for the next year, promoting integrity, empathy, discipline, and civic responsibility among young Nigerians.

Organized by the Help Sphere Foundation, a non-profit devoted to advancing values education, climate action, and humanitarian causes, the VDL Conference was convened by Mrs. Sandra Ani, the Global President of the Foundation and visionary initiator of the Values for Daily Living Project. The conference attracted high-level participants, including His Excellency Gov. Umo Eno, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu.

The event concluded on a high note with renewed optimism among participants, partners, and youth ambassadors to strengthen the movement for a values-driven Nigeria, where citizens live right, lead right, and influence right.
