The Benue State Police Command has announced the start of tinted glass permit enforcement across the state, effective today, Thursday, October 2, 2025. This directive aligns with instructions from the Inspector-General of Police, aiming to regulate tinted glass usage and enhance road safety.
Vehicle owners and drivers using tinted glasses without valid authorization are urged to regularize their status to avoid arrest, prosecution, or vehicle impoundment. The Command emphasizes that tint permits are exclusively issued through the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, facilitated online via the Police Specialized Services Automation Project (POSSAP) platform. Applications and payments must be made strictly through the official portal at https://possap.gov.ng, with no cash or on-site payments accepted.
The public is reminded that offering inducements to officers during traffic stops or permit inspections is a criminal act, with offenders facing investigation and potential prosecution. Enforcement officers have been directed to conduct checks with fairness and professionalism, ensuring the measure targets criminal activities rather than inconveniencing law-abiding citizens.
Commissioner of Police Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, mnips, PSC, PhD, appeals for maximum cooperation from residents and road users to ensure smooth enforcement. The Command appreciates the support of Benue’s people and reaffirms its commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting citizens, and fostering a safer society.
