The Benue State Government has unveiled plans to distribute 2,000 innovative electric bikes to residents through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). A sample of these bikes, branded “Spirio” by Ekoi, was recently showcased, highlighting a significant step toward sustainable transportation in the region.
The electric bikes come with an impressive array of advantages designed to benefit users and the environment:
1.Runs without fuel: Powered entirely by electricity, eliminating the need for gasoline.
2. Requires no engine oil: Reducing maintenance costs and environmental impact.
3.No piston or rings: A simplified design for durability and ease of use.
4.Theft-proof and trackable: Equipped with technology to prevent theft and allow tracking if hidden.
5.Automatic gear system: Offering a seamless riding experience.
6.Long range: When fully charged, the bikes can cover up to 136 kilometers.
The initiative has been met with enthusiasm, with local leader Chief Stephen Numbeve receiving commendation for his role in driving this project forward. The distribution aims to enhance mobility, support agricultural marketing, and promote eco-friendly transportation across rural Benue State.
This move by the Benue State Government aligns with global trends toward sustainable energy solutions. The electric bikes are expected to reduce carbon emissions and provide an affordable, reliable transport option for residents. Further details on the distribution process and eligibility criteria are awaited as the project gains momentum.
