Benue Police Command Arrests Armed Robbery Suspects

The Benue State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against crime with the arrest of three armed robbery suspects. The operation took place on August 31, 2025, at approximately 17:05 hours, when operatives from the Orokam Police Division intercepted the suspects during a stop-and-search duty at Orokam Junction by Obollo Afor Road.

The suspects, identified as Mujahid Mohammed (21 years), Yahaya Abdullahi (21 years), and Kalipha Mohammad (28 years), all residents of Mararaba, Nyanya, Abuja, were found in possession of a bag containing thirty-four (34) handsets of different brands, three (3) HP laptops, and two (2) MP3 players. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to belonging to a gang of armed robbers terrorizing the Orokam community in Benue State and other areas in Enugu State. They admitted to robbing six (6) flats in the Umukasi area and ten (10) flats in the St. Theresa Area of Nsukka, Enugu State.

The suspects further revealed that their ring leader, Abba Mohammed (aged 27 years), escaped with their weapons during the arrest and remains at large. Efforts are underway in collaboration with the Enugu and Gombe State Police Commands to apprehend the fugitive and prosecute all involved after due investigation and identification of the owners of the recovered items.

CP Emenari Ifeanyi, mnips, psc, PhD, the Commissioner of Police, commended the swift action of the patrol team and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements. The public has been urged to continue supporting the police with timely information to ensure a safe society for all.

This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the Benue State Police Command, led by DSP Udeme Edet, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), to enhance security and bring criminals to justice.
