Senator Titus Zam, representing Benue Northwest Senatorial District, is under increasing scrutiny from constituents and local groups as allegations of neglect and unfulfilled promises dominate public discourse. The controversy, highlighted in a series of social media posts by user Asortar, centers on Zam’s perceived lack of engagement and development initiatives in the region.

Constituents have expressed frustration over Zam’s failure to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) or provide relief materials, as noted in a post accusing him of neglecting vulnerable communities in Yiwata, Guma, following brutal attacks months ago. The Jemgbagh Development Forum, led by Chief John Asema, has urged Zam to address a petition from the Global Anti-Corruption Crusaders to the EFCC and ICPC, which alleges he looted billions of Naira during his tenure as head of the Benue State Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. Additionally, the group demands clarity on a N250 million Nano loan fraud linked to him and accountability for funds from the North Central Development Commission.

Critics, including Asortar, have condemned Zam’s focus on attending decamping ceremonies with figures like John Dyegh and Asema Achado in Gboko, Alaide, and Gwer West, rather than delivering tangible projects. The Nigerian Concord Newspaper reported on October 13, 2025, that constituents are calling for a Town Hall meeting where Zam should showcase his achievements over two years, accusing him of having none. Asema further alleged that Zam is banking N140 billion for vote-buying in 2027, explaining his refusal to initiate projects in Zone B.

The backlash intensified with claims that Zam’s representation is the worst in the district’s history, despite his closeness to Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Asema suggested replacing Zam with a younger, vibrant leader in 2027 to bring development to the zone. The senator’s office has yet to respond to these allegations, leaving constituents awaiting accountability and action.
