Benue Lawmakers Honor Fallen Officer Danlami Usman with Street Renaming

The Katsina-Ala Legislative House has unanimously approved a Bill of Remembrance to rename a major street in the township in honor of the late Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Danlami Usman, popularly known as Dan Zuru. The decision, made on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 6:12 PM, recognizes his bravery and dedication to restoring peace in the region.

ASP Danlami was tragically killed on Friday, September 19, 2025, during an attack by suspected Fulani bandits at Agu Center in Mbatyula/Mberev Council Ward. His efforts were instrumental in maintaining stability in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area and the wider Sankera axis. The motion to honor him was moved by Hon. Chai Aondover, Councillor representing Ikurav Tiev II Council Ward, and seconded by Hon. Deayongo Clement of Mbayongo Ward. The proposal also received strong support from Hon. Typopav Aondonna of Ikurav Tiev I Ward.

The renaming serves as a tribute to Danlami’s legacy and a symbol of gratitude for his sacrifice. The bill was announced by Terfa Torhile, reflecting the community’s collective respect for the fallen officer. This gesture underscores the legislative body’s commitment to recognizing the contributions of those who serve and protect the region.
