The Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) continues to make strides in empowering the youth of Benue State with the recent distribution of its third batch of motorcycles under the Motorcycle Hire-Purchase Scheme. On Wednesday, the Group Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-CFA, handed over 12 motorcycles to beneficiaries, marking a significant step in the company’s commitment to inclusive governance and economic empowerment.

Theresa Abeda, Head of Business Development and Strategy at BIPC, described the initiative as a directive from Governor Hyacinth Alia, aimed at removing youths from the streets and creating sustainable livelihoods. “Ours as a company is to make sure we take many people out of the street. That is the mandate we have from His Excellency. We encourage you not to take this goodwill for granted,” Abeda urged the beneficiaries, emphasizing the importance of embracing the opportunity with seriousness.

The scheme, which has already created over 75,000 jobs through commercial motorcycle operations, is set to extend to Otukpo and other parts of the state in the coming weeks. This expansion reflects BIPC’s dedication to fostering economic growth across the region.

Dr. Asemakaha highlighted the initiative’s alignment with Governor Alia’s Unicom Reform, which prioritizes inclusive governance and economic empowerment. “Today, we are gathered to distribute the third batch of our motorcycle hire-purchase scheme. It is important to provide dividends to our shareholders, but more importantly, we are extending inclusive government to our people. This is the first time since the inception of the company in 1979,” he stated.
