The planned evacuation of several Benue girls trafficked and currently stranded in Libya has hit a painful setback. One of the victims is now critically ill, suffering from severe blood shortage and other medical complications that have left her too weak to walk or travel. Doctors say moving her in this condition could be fatal, forcing the rescue team to postpone bringing the entire group home together.

The coordinator leading the operation confirmed that everything was ready for a simultaneous evacuation until this health crisis emerged. “We cannot leave her behind, and we cannot risk her life by forcing the journey now,” he said, adding that the team is racing against time to stabilize her before arranging emergency medical transfer.
