Benue Assembly Approves ₦550.1 Billion Supplementary Budget to Boost 2025 Development Agenda

The Benue State House of Assembly has approved a ₦550.1 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year, raising the state’s total spending plan to ₦550,112,988,930.45. The bill, which covers both recurrent and capital expenditures, was passed on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, following the adoption of a report by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation.

The plenary session, presided over by Speaker Rt. Hon. Aondover Alfred Embergerga, allocated ₦229.03 billion for supplementary recurrent expenditure and ₦321.07 billion for capital projects. Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, Hon. Isaac Ochekliye, explained that the supplementary budget provides funding for newly established government entities, including the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh, the Bureau for Mines and Solid Minerals, the Benue Geographic Information System (BENGIS), and the Office of the Principal Private Secretary.

The bill was passed into law after its third reading by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Bem Faasema Mela. Speaker Embergerga commended the committee’s thorough work, noting that the supplementary budget would enhance the implementation of key government projects and drive economic growth across Benue State.
