The Chairman of the Benue State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Hon. Justine Shaku, Ph.D., has approved the appointment of Mr. Nathan Peverga as his Chief Press Secretary.
The appointment, announced on Saturday, August 29, 2026, was made in recognition of Peverga’s dedication, experience and proven competence in media and public communication.
Peverga holds a National Certificate in Education from the College of Education, Jalingo, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Calabar. He is also a member of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Frontiers and an Executive Committee member of Governor Alia’s Media Advocates, Sankera (GAMAS), a media advocacy group committed to promoting and projecting the achievements and policies of the Benue State Government.
Congratulating him on the appointment, Hon. Shaku described Peverga’s emergence as a reflection of his dedication, distinguished service and proven competence in media engagement. He charged the new Chief Press Secretary to remain committed and dedicated in the discharge of his responsibilities and to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Responding to the appointment, Peverga expressed appreciation to Hon. Justin Shaku for finding him worthy of the responsibility and for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to bring his experience, dedication and professional competence to bear on the new assignment, promising to work diligently to effectively project the activities and programmes of the Benue State ALGON Chairman and strengthen the relationship between the association, the media and the public.
Peverga further assured his principal of his loyalty and commitment to the responsibilities entrusted to him, promising to uphold accuracy and responsible communication in the discharge of his duties. He also expressed readiness to work closely with media practitioners and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the policies, programmes and achievements of the ALGON leadership are effectively communicated to the people.
Peverga is expected to coordinate the media and public communication activities of the Benue State ALGON Chairman, strengthen engagement with the media and facilitate effective dissemination of information on the activities, programmes and initiatives of the association.
