Achaado Educare Scholarship Programme Disburses ₦40,000 Each to 476 Students in Gwer East and West

The Achaado Educare Scholarship Programme has disbursed ₦40,000 to each of 476 students in Gwer East and Gwer West Local Government Areas of Benue State as part of its Batch B intervention for 2026.

Sponsored by the member representing Gwer East/Gwer West Federal Constituency, Arc. Dr. Asema Achaado, the scholarship scheme was officially launched on February 19, 2026. It targets both indigenes and residents of the constituency who are registered voters, aiming to provide sustainable academic support and opportunities for young people.

According to the Central Planning Committee, 774 applications were received before the Batch B portal closed on March 6. Following a thorough screening process, 476 qualified applicants were selected and paid, bringing the total disbursement so far to ₦21,040,000.

The latest payments, which commenced on March 16 through various banks, are expected to be completed within three days.

In response to over 900 additional applications received after the portal closure, Dr. Achaado approved an increase in the scholarship budget to ₦30 million to accommodate more beneficiaries later in the year.

The committee reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and fairness in the selection process, describing the initiative as a reflection of the sponsor’s dedication to education as a key pillar of his development agenda.

The programme is designed to empower young people through consistent financial support, helping to reduce barriers to quality education and promote academic excellence in the constituency.
