The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has intensified its e-registration exercise with the training of an additional 800 ward registration agents, as part of efforts to expand party membership and strengthen grassroots structures ahead of future electoral activities.

The training session took place at Nnam Hotel in Makurdi, where the State Chairman of the APC, Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale, declared the program open. He commended the agents for their commitment, expressing gratitude to Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia for consistently funding party activities, including the ongoing digital membership registration drive since assuming leadership of the party in the state.

Chief Omale urged participants to approach the training with full dedication, emphasizing that the exercise would deepen internal democracy, foster unity among members, and position the APC for greater electoral strength and victories in Benue.

The State Coordinator of the APC E-Registration Exercise, Hon. James Ornguga, described the registration process as seamless but stressed the mandatory use of both the National Identification Number (NIN) and Voter’s Identification Number (VIN) for every new member. He reiterated the party’s serious commitment to digital innovation, ensuring no eligible interested person is denied registration.

Technical sessions were led by Zone B Coordinator Reuben Lubem Nyinya and Zone A Coordinator Angula Bishop Reuben, followed by interactive discussions among participants to address challenges and share best practices.

A major boost to the exercise came from Governor Alia, who approved the procurement and distribution of 1,428 cell phones, printers, and internet-supplying devices to support local government and ward registration agents. Distribution of these gadgets is scheduled to begin tomorrow, January 18, 2026, to enhance operational efficiency and accelerate the registration process across the state.

The latest training follows an earlier flag-off that saw 828 ward agents and 48 Local Government Supervisors trained, which triggered a significant surge in membership enrollment. Within five days, Benue APC moved from the second-to-last position on the national registration log to 16th place, reflecting a massive turnout of party members.

The expansion phase now allows for two agents per ward, including nominations from supporters loyal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Dr. George Akume, to ensure broader inclusion and representation.

Party officials have described the ongoing e-registration as a critical step toward rebuilding a robust, digitally empowered structure capable of mobilizing effectively for future contests. With Governor Alia’s continued support and the deployment of essential tools, the APC in Benue aims to sustain momentum and consolidate its position as a formidable force in the state.
