A firsthand account from Terna Enoch has brought clarity and caution to a recent social media narrative about a fuel distribution exercise for commercial motorcycle (Okada) riders in Gboko, Benue State, widely attributed to Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George, wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

In his detailed Facebook post, Enoch emphasized that he was physically present at the location opposite the MRS filling station, where he sat eating with friends and even purchased food from one of the vendors who benefited from the activity. He confirmed the gesture was genuine: fuel valued at approximately ₦200,000 was shared, with each recipient receiving about 3 litres.

Simple mathematics, he noted, shows this amount could support roughly 60-70 riders—not the thousands implied in viral claims of fuel “for 20000 bikes.” Recipients expressed genuine happiness, appreciating the relief amid rising fuel costs.

However, Enoch’s primary concern was the deliberate distortion of facts in online reports, questioning why a modest act of kindness was inflated into propaganda, potentially to score political points or gain attention for a favored figure. He argued that building activism or leadership on misinformation erodes credibility and that true support for admired individuals should not require misleading the public.

His message underscores a broader call for honesty in public discourse: “Truth should never be sacrificed on the altar of political loyalty.” As social media continues to amplify community gestures, such eyewitness corrections serve as reminders of the need for accuracy to maintain trust in shared stories of goodwill.
