A two-year-old girl, Anabel Avadoo Iorshe, from Igbor Village in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State has been missing since Monday, 31 August 2026, after she was allegedly abducted at Igbor Market.
According to her family, Anabel was with two older children, Joy Iorshe, 10, and Jessica Zachariah, 7, who were hawking groundnuts at the market while carrying the toddler on their back. The three were reportedly lured towards Makurdi by a man accompanied by a pregnant woman on a motorcycle under the pretext of collecting money to pay for the groundnuts. The two older girls were later rescued and taken to Police Division B in Makurdi, but Anabel was taken away and has not been seen since.
The family of Mendah Gbakah from Ikwe Council Ward in Igbor Village is urgently appealing to members of the public for any information that could help locate the child. Anyone who has seen Anabel Avadoo Iorshe or has useful information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the nearest police station or call 08063056150, 07042736522 or 08130971563. The family has also requested that the appeal be shared widely in the hope that it will help bring the little girl home safely.
