A fresh security breach has rocked Benue State, with reports indicating that Ankpechi Community in Oglewu, Ohimini Local Government Area, is currently under heavy attack by armed Fulani militia. The incident, which emerged on social media on Thursday, has heightened fears among residents already traumatised by persistent violence in the Benue South Zone (Zone C).

According to eyewitness accounts shared online, the repeated attacks have left families living in constant fear, while communities continue to mourn lost lives and destroyed properties. Residents expressed deep anger over what they described as the failure of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration to provide adequate protection and reassurance to vulnerable communities. Many are calling on the state government to take stronger and more decisive action to improve security and prevent further bloodshed.
