Ex-AGF Michael Aondoakaa Condemns Attacks on Akpachi and Otukpo-Nobi Communities, Calls for Decisive Action

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), has strongly condemned the recent deadly attacks on Akpachi Village and Otukpo-Nobi community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

In a statement issued by his media assistant, James Ian, Aondoakaa described the attacks, allegedly carried out by suspected armed herdsmen, as barbaric, horrific, and completely unacceptable.

He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, noting that the attackers invaded Akpachi Village between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. while residents were asleep.

Aondoakaa stated that the killings should not be seen as ordinary criminal acts but as deliberate acts of terrorism against peaceful Benue communities living on their ancestral land. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Akpa and Otukpo-Nobi communities, and the entire Otukpo Local Government Area.

The 2027 PDP governorship candidate called on the government to take urgent and decisive action by strengthening security operations, improving intelligence gathering, deploying more security personnel to vulnerable areas, and ensuring that those responsible for the attacks are arrested and prosecuted.

He stressed that the people of Benue deserve more than condolences after every tragedy and insisted that the blood of innocent victims must not go unanswered.
