A Facebook post by Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya has drawn attention to an alleged human trafficking incident involving a young girl in Benue State.
According to the account, a vehicle departed from High Level Park in Makurdi, and during the journey, the driver stopped at a fuel station where he picked up the minor. The post describes the operation as coordinated, noting that the driver had already obtained a ticket for the girl but avoided transporting her directly through the park due to the risk of arrest. Instead, she was reportedly kept with an accomplice near the fuel station awaiting the driver.
The update claims that, based on cameras installed in the vehicle, attempts were made to stop the process, but the driver remained determined and continued to his accomplices. Upon reaching Kogi State, the driver allegedly stopped, and another individual retrieved the girl and transferred her to a different vehicle. The post further states that Benue indigenes who opposed the action were nearly assaulted in Kogi.
In a subsequent update, the poster identified the vehicle’s registration number as KAB 988 AA and said details of the driver, including his phone number, along with other gathered information, were forwarded to key figures in the Benue chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW): Chairman Mr. Fredoo Akutser and State Chairman Comr. Hon. Gwaza Ahula James Gwaza Ahula. The girl’s siblings are said to have reached out, pleading for assistance in her rescue.
The post was copied to the Benue State Government and the Benue State Police Command in Makurdi, calling for intervention.
This incident is presented as part of ongoing trafficking activities in the region, with the poster advising against disabling vehicle cameras for now. As with similar social media reports, these claims remain unverified by official authorities at the time of writing.
