Benue State on Thursday joined family, friends, supporters, and well-wishers across Nigeria in celebrating one of its most remarkable leaders, Reverend Father Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, as he turns 60.
Born on May 15, 1966, in Vandeikya Local Government Area, Governor Alia marks six decades of grace, sacrifice, leadership, and impact. Before venturing into politics, he served humanity as a Catholic priest, counsellor, and scholar, obtaining advanced degrees from Fordham University and Duquesne University in the United States.
In 2023, he made history by becoming the elected Governor of Benue State, bringing renewed hope to millions of residents. Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, his administration has been credited with several key interventions, including regular payment of salaries and pensions, road construction and infrastructure development across Makurdi and other parts of the state, youth empowerment programmes, rural development initiatives, and security measures aimed at restoring peace in communities.
The celebratory message described Governor Alia as a man of faith, service, and purpose whose leadership continues to inspire many.
As he clocks 60, tributes continue to pour in from various quarters, with many acknowledging his unique journey from the pulpit to the corridors of power and his commitment to the development of Benue State.
Happy 60th Birthday, Your Excellency! May you be blessed with more wisdom, strength, good health, and many more years of impactful service to the people of Benue State and humanity.
