Governor Alia Welcomes Armed Forces Delegation to Benue State, Reaffirms Commitment to National Security

In a significant move underscoring the synergy between civilian leadership and Nigeria’s defence institutions, the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on Monday, 11th May 2026, hosted a high-level delegation from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.

The delegation, comprising staff, students, and guests participating in the institution’s 2026 Nigeria Study Tour, was led by Chief Coordinator Navy Captain A. Usman. The visit, themed “Promoting Community Engagement for Enhanced National Security and Prosperity,” forms part of an assessment tour aimed at exposing participants to ground realities regarding security practices, training, and engagements across the country.

Governor Alia, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Barr. Dr. Sam Ode, mni, warmly welcomed the team and expressed deep appreciation to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College for selecting Benue State as one of the key locations for the national exercise. He described the theme of the study tour as timely, relevant, and critical to addressing the security challenges confronting the nation.

Speaking through the Deputy Governor, Governor Alia emphasized that sustainable peace and security can only be achieved through inclusive governance, active youth engagement, and strong collaboration with security institutions. He commended the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the nation’s military personnel, noting that their dedication continues to inspire hope for a safer and more prosperous Nigeria. The Governor further stressed that the bravery displayed by members of the Armed Forces deserves the support and cooperation of every Nigerian citizen.

The Governor assured the delegation that Benue State remains resolute and optimistic in its partnership with security agencies and institutions. He also reaffirmed Benue State’s blessing of hardworking and resilient citizens and pledged the continued collaboration of the state government with institutions such as the Armed Forces Command and Staff College towards achieving a safer, more secure, and prosperous Benue State and Nigeria at large.
