A tragic incident unfolded in Peva community, Benue State, on February 1, 2026, as gunmen ambushed and killed a resident identified as Ortwerver Angahar (also referred to as Ortwer Angahar). The victim, described as a visitor to the area who pioneered a medical scanning facility in Peva, was reportedly the first person to establish such a service locally.
According to accounts circulating on social media from community sources, including a post by a local page known as Slow Pee SRG, Angahar was attacked while riding his ordinary Hajue motorcycle. The assailants, described as “well-known unknown gunmen,” fatally shot him and made away with the bike. The incident has sparked outrage over persistent insecurity in the region, with claims that criminal elements continue to target civilians despite earlier assurances of disarmament or limited access to weapons.
