Thousands of Tiv Sons and Daughters Converge at Emir Justice Sidi Mohammed of Lafia’s Palace in Historic Solidarity Display

In a powerful show of unity and goodwill, thousands of Tiv sons and daughters from Nasarawa State gathered at the palace of the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Mohammed Bage (Rtd.), on Sunday in what has been described as a historic demonstration of solidarity and renewed commitment to peace.

The massive convergence, led by the Paramount Ruler of the Tiv nation, His Royal Majesty, Orchivirigh, Barrister Chief Geoffrey Iorvaa (Ter Tiv II), brought together community leaders, youth groups, women, and prominent stakeholders to reaffirm their dedication to peaceful coexistence, inter-communal harmony, and inclusive development across Nasarawa State.

The event served as a strategic engagement between the Tiv leadership and the Nasarawa State Traditional Council of Chiefs, aimed at strengthening ties, fostering mutual understanding, and advancing socio-economic initiatives that benefit all communities in the state.

The delegation included the President of the Tiv Development Association (TIDA), Comrade Simeon Apusu, alongside other influential Tiv figures. Supporters flooded major routes leading to the Emir’s palace, causing significant human and vehicular traffic across Lafia metropolis as participants expressed joy and optimism.

Barrister Iorvaa urged Tiv sons and daughters to remain united and steadfast, stressing that dialogue, collaboration, and collective effort remain essential for progress and peaceful advancement.

Emir Sidi Mohammed Bage warmly received the delegation and commended the visit, stating: “Unity and dialogue among our people are critical to achieving lasting peace and development in the state.”

Participants described the gathering as “a fresh breath” and “a renewed pathway toward the advancement of the Tiv people,” viewing it as a milestone in strengthening Tiv–traditional institution relations and signaling a new era of cooperation and communal harmony in Nasarawa State.

The large turnout and positive atmosphere have been widely regarded as a significant step toward deeper integration, mutual respect, and shared prosperity among diverse communities in the state.
