In a heartfelt display of gratitude, the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Benue State Chapter, has pledged to purchase the 2027 governorship nomination form for Governor Hyacinth Alia. This remarkable gesture, announced during the inauguration of their new support movement, “Let’s Jig It Together,” underscores the pensioners’ appreciation for the governor’s commitment to their welfare.

Senior member Madam Dooshima Aondowase shared an emotional testimony, noting that for the first time in years, she could celebrate her birthday without tears. “Governor Alia has wiped our tears,” she said, vowing to mobilize pensioners across all 23 local government areas to support Alia in 2027. The initiative, according to the pensioners, transcends politics, representing a movement of gratitude and renewed trust in leadership.

The “Let’s Jig It Together” movement has vowed to campaign across the state to ensure the continuity of the governor’s “Renewed Hope for Pensioners” programme. Union Chairman Comrade Mike Vembeh, alongside Vice Chairman Michael Agada, highlighted the decision as a direct response to Alia’s efforts. “Before Governor Alia came, many of us had lost hope. We were dying in silence, unable to afford food or medication. But today, pensions are paid promptly. We are alive, healthy, and hopeful again,” Vembeh stated emotionally.
