The Benue State House of Assembly on September 11, 2025, announced a reshuffle in its leadership positions following the dissolution of the previous lineup. Speaker Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Embergera unveiled the new principal officers, who will serve in an acting capacity until political parties nominate their permanent representatives.

- Majority Leader: Hon. Pharm. Thomas Dugeri from Kwande East Constituency.
- Minority Leader: Hon. Abu Umoru from Apa Constituency.
- Majority Chief Whip: Hon. Cyril Ikong, previously the Deputy Majority Whip.
- Deputy Majority Leader: Hon. Abraham Jabi from Buruku Constituency.
- Deputy Majority Whip: Hon. Samuel Jiji from Logo.
- Minority Whip**: Rt. Hon. Cephas Dyako (Konshisha).
- Deputy Minority Leader: Hon. Simon Gabo from Ushongo.

The Speaker congratulated the newly appointed officers and urged them to contribute effectively to the smooth functioning of the Assembly. He emphasized that these roles are temporary, pending the submission of nominated members by the respective political parties to occupy the positions permanently.
Legislative Updates
Before the leadership announcement, the Assembly passed three significant bills during a plenary session. One notable bill amends the Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University Law and the Colleges of Education Oju and Mba-Ala amendment bills. These amendments will enable the two Colleges of Education to award degrees and postgraduate degrees in Education.
