Nativitas FC of Tarhembe Clinches Tarka Anniversary Cup as Chairman Yenge Splashes Cash Prizes on Winners

The 2025 Tarka Anniversary Cup football competition came to an exciting climax on Sunday as Nativitas FC of Tarhembe defeated Youth Stars FC of Wannune 3-1 in a pulsating final match held to round off the annual Tarka Day celebrations.

In a colourful ceremony immediately after the encounter, the Executive Chairman of Tarka Local Government Area, Hon. Yenge Raphael Aondoaseer, presented the champions, Nativitas FC, with a giant trophy, the star prize of ₦1,000,000 (one million naira), and a promise of continued support.

The runners-up, Youth Stars FC Wannune, went home with ₦200,000 while City Boys FC Wannune, who finished third, smiled home with ₦100,000. Young Stars FC Agboughul, fourth-placed team, received ₦50,000, and every participating team was gifted brand new sets of jerseys.

Speaking at the prize presentation, Hon. Yenge reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth development through sports, education, health, and economic empowerment. He described football as a powerful tool to channel youthful energy positively and curb restiveness in the area.

The council boss vowed to leave no stone unturned in promoting grassroots football in Tarka LGA and announced plans to personally sponsor the Chairman’s Cup competition in the near future.

He specially commended the chief organizer of the Tarka Anniversary Cup, Dr. Ezekiel Gundu, and his team for a hitch-free tournament, congratulating all the teams for exhibiting high sportsmanship throughout the competition.

With the huge cash rewards, new jerseys, and the chairman’s promise of more sporting activities ahead, the atmosphere was filled with joy as players and supporters hailed Hon. Yenge for walking the talk on youth inclusion and development.

The successful hosting of the 2025 Tarka Anniversary Cup has further cemented the council chairman’s reputation as a youth-friendly leader and raised the bar for community-driven sports tournaments in Benue State.
