The Nasarawa State Police Command has intercepted a significant cache of firearms in Keana, a border community with Benue State. The operation, led by Commissioner of Police Shettima Jauro, was based on intelligence and forced suspects to abandon their luggage and flee.
Recovered items include four AK-49 rifles, three AK-47s, a G3 rifle, a submachine gun, 11 magazines, over 4,000 rounds of ammunition, and 75 cartridges. Within the past week, police also arrested nine suspects, seizing 38 firearms, over 4,000 rounds of ammunition, and a vehicle. Additional arrests in Akwanga and Lafia uncovered locally made guns, revolvers, machetes, swords, police uniforms, and tools for gun production.
CP Jauro assured residents that the Command is intensifying efforts to flush out criminals and maintain state safety. The operation marks a critical step in curbing illegal arms proliferation in the region.
