Abuja-based Benue-born interior designer Miss Rose Ashiekaa has criticised what she describes as hypocrisy in the widespread praise for a trending song by Bobbie Terungwa, accusing some Tiv men of using phrases like “Angbain wam u kwase” to subtly stigmatise and shame women while failing to support those building legitimate careers.

In a strongly worded Facebook post on Sunday, February 22, 2026, Ashiekaa argued that while many men publicly applaud the song as carrying a “deep message” on morality, they often remain silent or unsupportive when young Tiv women strive for economic independence through education, entrepreneurship, or professional work.

She claimed the phrase “Angbain wam u kwase” (loosely translated as “a woman who sells her body”) has increasingly become a weaponised label deployed against women, shifting focus away from addressing root social issues and instead reinforcing stigma. Ashiekaa questioned the one-sided narrative, asking who enables prostitution in the first place and whether men should also bear collective responsibility.

According to her, public condemnation of women without self-reflection from men amounts to “a public stoning disguised as moral concern.” She called for genuine mentorship, protection, and economic empowerment for Tiv women, insisting that meaningful societal change requires shared accountability rather than selective outrage.

The post has sparked mixed reactions online. Supporters praised her for highlighting double standards and advocating for women’s dignity and economic inclusion, while others defended the song as a necessary reflection of harsh social realities and a call to moral responsibility.

The controversy has reignited broader discussions on gender dynamics, cultural narratives, responsibility in addressing prostitution and related social challenges, and the role of music in shaping public discourse within Tiv communities.
