The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, FNSE, marked the coinciding holy seasons of Ramadan (Sallah) and Lent (Easter) by hosting a special celebration with widows, the physically challenged, and other vulnerable groups at his country home in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.

The event, held amid the rare global overlap of the two major fasting and reflection periods observed by Muslims and Christians, brought together dozens of beneficiaries who received food items, cash support, livelihood packages, and words of encouragement from the minister.

Prof. Utsev described the gathering as a deliberate act of service and obedience to God, emphasizing that reaching out to the less fortunate is not merely an act of charity but a source of personal fulfillment and divine pleasure. He stressed that both Sallah and Lent teach the values of fasting, prayer, reflection, charity, family bonds, and compassion virtues he urged well-to-do individuals to continually imbibe.

“This is not the first time we are doing this,” said Terhemen Oraduen, Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister. “It is pleasurable to attend to the less fortunate members of society, not necessarily because they are in need, but because it is self-satisfying and pleasing to God.”

The minister reiterated his call on the good people of Benue State to continue praying for and supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, and himself, so they can succeed in the task of making Nigeria a prosperous nation.
