A wave of grief and anger has swept through the Igede community in Lagos following the brutal death of Juliet, a young woman from Ahuye, Akunda Ito in Benue State, who was reportedly beaten to death by suspected agberos at United Estate, Sangotedo-Ajah in the early hours of Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Witnesses claim the attack was unprovoked and savage, with Juliet’s lifeless body later discovered and taken to a morgue near Doreen Specialist Hospital in Thomas Estate. The incident has ignited fierce calls for justice, with community leaders and residents demanding swift action from authorities.
Reports indicate that some suspects have been arrested and are currently being held at Ogombo Police Station. However, the Lagos State Police Command has yet to release an official statement, leaving many questions unanswered as investigations continue.
In a powerful appeal, Igede community leader John Enyi Ona urged unity and action, calling for a peaceful protest on Wednesday in the Ajah/Lekki area. “Let’s not keep quiet while evil thrives. Today it’s Juliet; tomorrow it could be another innocent soul. Let’s rise for justice,” he declared, rallying indigenes to stand together in demanding accountability.
The tragedy has reverberated across social media, with many expressing outrage over the recurring violence linked to touts in Lagos. For the Igede people, this is not just a loss of one of their own—it’s a stark reminder of the vulnerability faced by migrants in the city.
As the community prepares to march, all eyes are on the police and local authorities to ensure transparency and deliver justice for Juliet. Her death must not be in vain.
