Hon. Unongo Seeks Royal Blessings from Tor Jechira, Meets Council of Elders in Vandeikya

Hon. Fidelis Msughter Unongo has paid a formal courtesy visit to the Jechira Council of Elders at the palace of the Tor Jechira, His Royal Highness Chief Edward Ujege, in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, to seek royal blessings, prayers, and traditional guidance.

The event, held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, drew a large gathering of elders, traditional title holders, community leaders, and key stakeholders from across Jechira land.

Addressing the assembly, Hon. Unongo explained that his visit stemmed from deep respect for tradition and the vital role of elders as custodians of the people’s heritage. He stressed that true leadership must be rooted in wisdom, accountability, and consistent consultation with senior custodians of culture.

“I have come to seek the blessings and counsel of our fathers. Their prayers and guidance are crucial at every stage of life and service,” he said.

In response, the Tor Jechira, HRH Chief Edward Ujege, commended Hon. Unongo for honouring the traditional institution, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of humility, cultural consciousness, and respect for elders. He urged the visitor to remain focused on selfless service, always placing community interest above personal ambition.
