Governor Hyacinth Alia Donates Power Equipment and Cash to NTA Makurdi to Enhance Broadcast Operations

Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State has once again demonstrated support for public broadcasting by donating essential operational equipment and cash to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Makurdi Network Centre.

The donation was presented on Tuesday, March 11, 2026, on behalf of the Governor by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, during a visit to the NTA centre in Makurdi. The gesture aims to help the station overcome persistent power supply issues and maintain reliable, high-quality service delivery to viewers across the state.

The items donated include a Solotec 11KVA inverter, two 15KWh batteries, and all required accessories necessary to ensure uninterrupted power for broadcasting operations. In addition to the equipment, a cash donation was handed over to further bolster the centre’s day-to-day activities and administrative needs.

Sir Tersoo Kula conveyed Governor Alia’s message of unwavering commitment to providing continued and sustainable assistance in strategic sectors, including media infrastructure, to guarantee effective and optimal service delivery to the people of Benue.

This latest intervention marks the third time Governor Alia has extended support to the NTA since assuming office, reinforcing his administration’s dedication to strengthening broadcast quality, reliability, and the overall capacity of public media institutions in the state.

Accompanying the Chief Press Secretary during the presentation were several of the Governor’s appointees, including Hon. Isaac Uzaan, Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Content Creation; Hon. Donald Kumun, Principal Special Assistant on Print Media; and Dr. Aondookakaa Asambe, Director General of Livestock Development and Transboundary Animal Disease Control.

The donation is widely seen as a timely boost to NTA Makurdi, which, like many public institutions, faces recurring challenges with electricity supply that often disrupt programming and operational efficiency.
